Thomas Durwood "Tom" Levefers Jr., 78, of Morgantown, WV, passed away peacefully at Mon Health Medical Center on Friday, June 13, 2025, surrounded by his family.
He was born on April 14, 1947, a son of the late Thomas Durwood Lefevers Sr. and Elma (Hamrick) Lefevers.
Tom was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran, served two tours 1966-1967 and 1971-1972. Between his tours in the Army, he worked at Greer as a mill runner. After that he worked 17 years opening and closing graves by hand for Lawnwood Cemetery. Tom enjoyed putting together model cars and collected old cars, especially '69 Ford Mustangs. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt and fish. He attended The Lighthouse Cathedral Church on the Kingwood Pike. Tom was a man of God, reading his Bible daily and watching Jimmy Swagger.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 4.5 years, Sherrie (Donaldson) Lefevers; a son, Timothy Lefevers and wife Cindy; two daughters, Cathy Stimmell and husband Dennis Sr. and Carrie Jo Lopez and husband Pedro; two bonus daughters, Ann Haverfield and husband Tim and Tracy Taylor and husband Mark; 18 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; a brother, Darrell Lefevers; one sister, Judy Pounds; daughter-in-law, Sherry Lefevers and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia "Patty" (Graham) Lefevers; one son, Thomas D. Lefevers III; a grandson, Nicholas M. Lopez and two sisters, Nancy Crislip and Carolyn Mayle.
Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown, WV, on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, from 10:00 am until the 1:00 pm time of service with Pastor Jon Henry and Pastor Kelley officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Preston County Honor Guard VFW Post 1589 of Masontown and the WVANG Honor Guard. Inurnment will be held at the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and nursing staff of Mon Health Medical Center for the care and compassion given to Tom and his family during this time.
