Stuart Olsowske Obituary

WATERLOO – Stuart "Stu" P. Olsowske, 82, passed away Friday (August 25, 2023) at Strong Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side.

Stu was born February 10, 1941, in Waterloo, the son of Stuart P. and Ruth V. Keefer Olsowske. He was a graduate of Romulus High School. Stu earned his RN degree and was proud to be part of the first graduating class of CCFL. He was a Nursing Administrator at the Newark DDSO for many years, while moonlighting as a Nursing Supervisor at Clifton Springs Hospital. In his later career, he transitioned to home care and hospice services.

Throughout his life, Stu wore many hats. In his younger years, he was involved in the 4H program and the Future Farmers of America. He dedicated time to his community, serving as the Junius Town Supervisor and the Chairman of Seneca County Board of Supervisors. Stu was always an avid farmer and gardener. In his later years, he was known for his wonderful baking and affectionately named "Studabaker." Stu was active in the Presbyterian church, devoting his time to the Soup & Sandwich program at the First Presbyterian Church of Waterloo. Most recently, he attended the First Presbyterian Church of Seneca Falls.

Stu was a loving husband, father, "grandpa", "poppy," and "grandpoppy." He was the embodiment of family values, hard work, and faith. He will be dearly missed.

Stu is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Cathy A. Brown; his six children, Deb (Matt) Lewis, Cindy (Joe) Felice, Beth (John) Jones, Jolene (Vina) Olsowske, Sarah (Michael) Didas, and Paul (Marlie) Olsowske; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. Stu also leaves behind his brother, Thomas Olsowske; an aunt, nieces, a nephew, several cousins, and countless other friends and acquaintances whose life he touched.

In keeping with Stu's wishes, there will be no calling hours or service.

In lieu of flowers, plant a tree, pet a chicken, or send memorial contributions to Pathway Home, P. O. Box 516, Seneca Falls, NY, 13148.

I just became aware of Stuart's passing and I am saddened to hear about this. I grew up involved with Stuart thought 4-H, FFA, school activities at Romulus and frequently on Sundays I would go to his farm to assist him in milking the cows. I always had respect for Stuart as a result of our shared youth activities, however, once I left New York in 1961 I must admit that we did not see one another very often after that. I send to his family my deepest regards and true Aloha Nui Loa! I shall aways continue to carry the fondest of memories of Stuart.
