Thomas Daniel Renner Birch Run, Michigan Loving husband, wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather, brother, and friend—Tom Renner passed away on July 14, 2025, at his home at the age of 79. He was born on July 3, 1946, in Flint, MI, to the late Ethel (Rye) Renner and Roy (Geraldine) Renner. On August 5, 1967, in Fosters, MI, he married the love of his life, Gail Quackenbush.
Tom worked as a truck driver for the Saginaw County Road Commission and retired after 38 years of dedicated service. He attended First Baptist Church in Bridgeport. He enjoyed watching his grandson race, hunting and fishing, spending time at his cabin on Secord Lake, riding the pontoon with his family, and sharing life with his beloved dog and companion, Taffy.
Family was the center of Tom’s life. He was a devoted husband and proud father, often telling everyone he met how his children owned Mr. Asphalt. His loving and caring nature made him a father figure to many who lacked one, and he was affectionately called “Grandpa” by neighborhood children.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Gail Renner; his three children: Wendy (Tim) Leeck, Tom (Carrie) Renner, and Bryan Renner; grandchildren: Daniel (Jessica) Leeck, Thomas (Eve) Renner, Elizabeth (Shane) Cuneaz, Bradley (Rebecca) Broughman, Caitlynn (Trent Seorum) Renner, Jacob (Katelyn) Woodward, Matthew (Kayla) Leeck, Nathan Renner, Hunter Leeck, Gabrielle Renner, Jordan Bingham, Jason Contreras, and Nathan Contreras; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are his brother, Roy Renner; his brother and lifelong friend, Robert (Penny) Harris; half-siblings: Greg (Mary) Harris, Shelly Renner, Kelly Renner, Gerri Mae Renner, Roy Renner III, and others; special nephew Tom (Tammy) Brady; special nieces Rebecca Lavrack, and Jennifer Lavrack; very special sister-in-law Jerilyn (Brian) Lutz; good friends Larry Monroe and Ken Chapdelaine; and many other cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his siblings: Mary Gainer, Richard Renner, Jean James, Charles Renner, Bea Cline, Tillie Whittier, and Royetta Ostipow; sister-in-law Nancy Linton; and a special niece, Julie Thomas.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Bridgeport, 2400 King Road, Saginaw, MI 48601. Pastor J.D. Howell will officiate. Honoring Tom's wishes, cremation will take place following services.
