Thomas Small passed away May 17, 2025, at home with his family by his side after a brave and dignified battle with cancer. Thomas is predeceased by his parents, Layton and Juanita Small, brother, Layton Julian Floyd, and brother-in-law, Pooh Jordan. Thomas is survived by his longtime partner Carol, his daughters, Jessica Rabon and Audrey Small, two brothers, Nelson Small (Brenda) of Georgetown, Clayton Small (Kay) of Pleasant View, two sisters, Brenda Small, and Lessie Elvington (Andy) both of Aynor, a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and best friend, Johnny Cooper. Thomas took pride in his work and was by trade a talented and skilled painter. He loved camping and fishing with his friends on the river where each time he set out on an excursion, his family was surprised and delighted he made it back in one piece. Thomas loved watching westerns and college football. He knew every word to Outlaw Josie Wales and was so disappointed in the performance of the SC Gamecocks that he joined the fan ship of Alabama because they have the same colors. He never missed an opportunity to show off his latest magic trick or turn his medical devices into musical instruments. Despite his claims that he learned to cook in prison, Thomas was the worst brownie maker that ever lived. He considered it a book read if he watched a movie with subtitles. He was well known for starting sentences with, "see here boys" or "I hate to say this but" immediately followed by something he took absolute pleasure in saying. He loved spending time with family and friends celebrating holidays and occasions. Thomas had a distinct talent for sneaking peeks of his Christmas presents early and was often in cahoots with the family dog to help him avoid detection or blame. In his final days, Thomas accepted the peace of Jesus that allowed him to transition from this life to the next. Thomas' mischief, silliness, kindness, and all that he was will be greatly missed by those who were near and dear to him. Thomas' family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Conway Cancer, Conway Medical Center, and MSA Hospice for their diligent and special care of Thomas through his hardest battles. Funeral services for Mr. Thomas will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Pisgah Global Methodist Church with the Rev. Dave Wehrle officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00-2:45 PM in the church fellowship hall.
