Dunn, NC: Mr. Thomas “Tommy” Ogburn Ennis, age 85, of Dunn passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at his residence with his family by his side. Graveside Funeral Services will be held-2:00 PM Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Paul Cecil. The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service in the church fellowship hall.
Mr. Ennis was born on June 29, 1940 in Harnett County to the late Thomas Edward and Gertie Hight Ennis. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marian Richardson Williams. He was a farmer most of his life but also managed a tobacco warehouse, sold Christmas trees, and was an insurance agent. Mr. Ennis was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church where he was very involved serving as Deacon, Elder, and Sunday School Superintendent through his many years. He loved his community as well, serving on the Coats-Grove Fire Department Board of Directors for many years and active with the Coats Lions Club. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Judy Ennis; daughters, Domini Ennis Pierce and Elaine Ennis Wethy and husband, Gary; grandchildren, Stephen Wethy and wife, Haylee and Kevin Wethy; and two great grandchildren.
The family would like to give their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Liberty Hospice as well has his caregivers, Janet, Vicky, and Patricia for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund at PO Box 397 Coats, NC 27521.
