Thomas Wilson Obituary

Thomas R. Wilson, 76, of Broad Brook, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 17, 2025. He was born on May 13, 1949, in Manchester, and was one of three children to the late Howard W. Wilson and Beryl E. Ellsworth.

Tom grew up and lived most of his life in Broad Brook. As a young man, he worked on tobacco farms in East Windsor with his younger siblings. He graduated from East Windsor High School, Class of 1967, and earned his B.A. in History from Central Connecticut State University in 1971. At CCSU, he was a popular DJ at the college radio station and made many friends due to his outgoing personality. After college, he worked at the Hartford Insurance Co., and painted homes for Lee & Lamont Realty with BLT Painters. For many years he was a caretaker for his mother and father until their passing. Tom was an avid New York METS fan and attended games at Shea Stadium in New York.

Tom is survived by his daughter, Angelica Wilson and her husband Andrew Bullard of West Hartford; his grandson, Alexander Bullard, also of West Hartford; his sister, Raelene Opalacz and her husband Ronald of Clover, SC; his aunt, Gladys Nolan of Enfield; his nieces, Sara Carroll of Willington, Kelly Wilson of DeLeon Springs, FL, Amanda Tremblay and her husband Matthew of Clover, SC, and Rebecca LeMasters and her husband Matthew of Brunswick, GA; his former wife, Deborah Wilson of Ellington; as well as a host of cousins and extended family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Wilson.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 10-11 a.m. at the Ladd & Carmon Funeral Home, 19 Ellington Ave., Rockville, with a funeral service to begin at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Windsorville Cemetery, East Windsor. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pack Leaders Rescue of Connecticut at www.packleadersrescue.com.
