Mr. Thomas Jay (Tommy) Congleton, 82, of Meadowbrook Road,
Richmond, Kentucky, husband of Darnetta Wells Congleton for 62 years, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025.
Tommy was born in Moberly, Kentucky on June 8, 1943, to the late Roy Marcum and Geneva Tevis Congleton. He was a member of Flatwoods Christian Church where he served as a deacon. Tommy owned and operated Congleton Oil Sunoco Company for approximately 25 years. Following the sale of Congleton Oil, Tommy shifted his focus to farming full-time. He was a landowner and loved his farming operation, RRR Farms.
Tommy was one of the founders and initial president of the East Madison County Ruritan Club. He helped form the Waco Fire Department and was a founding sponsor of the Richmond American Legion baseball team. He also served as a director for the National City Bank, formerly known as the Waco Bank and the Richmond Bank. Despite his time on the farm and his extensive community involvement, Tommy still found time for his favorite hobbies – fishing and golfing.
