Tony Douglas Vanover, left us on August 3, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on September 4, 1955, in Hazard, Kentucky to Bobby and Leora Vanover, Tony was a shining light in the lives of those who knew him. He spent his life passionate about his work as a truck driver, and he approached every mile with dedication and pride.

Tony was a proud member of Elevation Church, where he nurtured his faith and created lasting bonds with his community. He found joy in the simplicity of life, whether spending peaceful days fishing, sharing laughter and stories with family, or finding solace in the warm embrace of his church family. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his brother, Tommy Vanover, sisters Bobbie Driggs, Sarah (John) Howell, and Eulonda (Doug) Howell, the love of his life and ex-wife, Leola Vanover, and his step-children, Adam Birchfield, Charlie Birchfield, Sylvia Birchfield, Madeline Birchfield and several step-grandchildren, each of whom he adored dearly.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby and Leora Vanover, his sister, Claudia Neace and stepdaughter, Joanne Browning.

Tony's natural ability to bring people together and his unwavering love for family made him an irreplaceable presence in the lives of many. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness that will continue to resonate with all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Funeral services will be held to honor Tony's life and memory, inviting family and friends to come together in celebration of his journey. The services will take place at Collins Funeral Home of Scottsburg at 1:00 pm Thursday, August 7, 2025. Friends may visit with Tony's family from 10:00 am until service time Thursday. He will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Scottsburg. We invite those who loved him to join us as we share stories, cherish memories, and say our final goodbyes.
