Travis Jones Obituary

      DANVILLE- Travis D. Jones, age 57, of Danville, passed away unexpectedly due to an undiagnosed medical issue causing a single-vehicle accident on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

      Born on November 3, 1967, Travis was the son of the late Lillian and Dempsey Jones. He lived his entire life on the Jones family farm on North Street in Danville, where he felt most at home. Travis never felt the need to go far; everything he enjoyed was right there.

      In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Michael, his brother, who died in a car accident in 1972, and Karen Huffman, sister to his longtime partner Lori.

      He is survived by his beloved sons, Michael (Lauren) Jones and Jonathan Jones; Chaz (Stacey Long) Miller, his bonus son; his sister, Kathy (Gary) Fesler; his niece and nephew, Heather (Sam) Patel and Heath (Rachael) Fesler; and his devoted partner of 14 years, Lori Huffman Frink.

      Travis also leaves behind his animal companions, Lucifer (affectionately known as Lucy), his black cat sidekick, and his golden doodles, Willow and Winnie. He was preceded in death by his dearly loved pups, Knunzio, Walker, Sadie, and Zina.

      In addition to his family, Travis has many bonus families, which include: Mike and Angie and the entire Reed crew, along with dozens of “adopted” kids he mentored, joked with, looked out for, and occasionally helped plan a little mischief. He cared for his small Danville community like family, and if everyone he helped were listed by name, the page would stretch far beyond reason, or memory.

      Travis worked for Merillat Industries for many years until its closing in 2002, then remained on-site through its transitions with various companies. Most recently, he served as Assistant Mill Manager for Northwest Hardwoods and International Timber and Lumber (ITL).

     Known for his deep sense of family, community, and loyalty, Travis was always quick to lend a helping hand, offer advice to the young people in his life, and honor the wisdom of his elders; as long as they agreed with him. He was also known for his unofficial collection of “at least five of everything,” from miniature John Deere tractors to full-sized trucks and an impressive arsenal of tools.

     In keeping with his wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. Friends and loved ones are invited to gather for “Travis’s Last Hoorah” on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Jones farm on North Street in Danville, to share stories, laughter, and memories of the man who meant so much to so many.
