Saluda, SC: Troy Weather, AKA Troy Maeweather 94, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2025 in the Saluda Nursing Home

He was born in Atalla, Alabama, his mother was name Zadie Maeweather. Mr. Troy as a young boy about 10 years when he was left in Batesburg, South Carolina and a lady by the name of Ella Griffin raised him along with her children. A book of Mr. Troy's Life was written and published his nephew Richard Edwards can be found on Amazon Called "Zadie's Boy" The Troy Maeweather Story. Mr. Johnny Steele, his friend and Ella Griffins and her family were instrumental in getting him established in the Batesburg and Monetta area. As his journey continued in Batesburg, he wanted to see his mother again and Mr. Steele and his boss at Ridge Lumber Company was instrumental in getting him to Alabama after 50 years to see his mother. At that time he was already to married Ellen Mae Smith Weather, November 12, 1963. She preceded him in death, March 12, 1996. They attended Chinquapin Baptist Church where they sing on the Senior Choir. Mr. Troy have had many turns in his life since then, he was in the care of Betty and the late Johnny Dobbs before being admitted to Saluda Nursing Center. While in the Nursing home he became apart of the Nursing Home Family. He has relatives in parts of Alabama and surrounding area. His life Story was printed in the State Newspaper, the local paper and his nephew pinned a book about his life, so that made him a Celebrity in so many ways. He leaves to cherish his memories, his family in Alabama; Betty Dobbs and the Davisville Family, Mr. Johnny Steele, Batesburg, SC; others that had contact with Mr. Troy; The Saluda Nursing Home Family; in-law from Mrs. Ellen side of the family and friend Billy Bryant.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Please lift his family and all those that was touched by his life in prayer when you pray.
