Our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to Carl "Tut" Anderson, a true cowboy and beloved husband, father and Papa who passed away on March 10, 2025, after a lengthy struggle with dementia.
Born on February 10, 1947, in Worland, Wyoming, to Ove and Rozina [Taylor] Anderson, Tut embodied the spirit of the West. He was a graduate of Powell Community College and the University of Wyoming with a degree in Agriculture. He spent 25 years with the US Forest Service where he started as Crew Leader of the Bighorn Interregional Hot Shot Fire Crew and later the Incident Commander of the Rocky Mountain Area Fire Team. He loved talking about fire fighting to anyone that would listen – even up to weeks before he passed. After retiring from the Forest Service, he spent 17 years as an Engineer for Union Pacific, but his greatest passion was raising livestock and riding horses. When he wasn't trying his hand at ranching fulltime, he always had a hobby ranch on the side when he worked fulltime.
Tut's journey through life was shared with his loving wife of 55 and a half years, Loretta Anderson of Sheridan, WY. Together, they raised a family that includes daughters Deby (Todd) Forry of Laramie, WY, and Bobi (Bryan) Forry of Southlake, TX; and a son Ryan (Kathryn) Anderson of Livingston, MT.
Known for his toughness, quick wit, and competitive nature, these traits live on in his grandchildren-Shane Forry's tough resilience, Chase Forry's quick wit, Addie Forry's fierce competitiveness, Gabbi Forry's gentle heart, Carter Tut Anderson's fiery spirit, Cyler Anderson's mischievous grin, and Rylynn Anderson's twinkling eyes. Tut loved spending time and watching his grandchildren compete in their sporting events and was so proud of them.
Preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Don Taylor, brother Neils Anderson, and granddaughter Katie Lynn Forry, Tut is also survived by his half-sister Brenda (Mark) Tolle of Marysville, WA, and sister-in-law Pam (Dave) Sherman, of East Wenatchee, WA.
A Celebration of Life for Tut will be held April 19th, at 11:00 am at the Ignite Wesleyan Church, lunch reception to follow. Please send donations in lieu of flowers to Dementia Friendly Wyoming (DFW) 211 Smith Street, Sheridan, WY 82801 Or visit www.thehubsheridan.org to give online in honor of Carl "Tut" Anderson.
