Urban Anthony Cook, Sr., born on August 6, 1965, in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away on May 7, 2025, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. His passing marks the end of a life defined by dedication to family, hard work, and quiet kindness.
Urban built a life rooted in perseverance and integrity. For over two decades, he ran his own Insulation & Garage Door Installation Company, demonstrating not only entrepreneurial spirit but also an unwavering commitment to quality and service. Through years of diligent labor and steadfast reliability, Urban earned the respect of clients and peers alike. He leaves a lasting legacy for his son Steven Cook to carry on.
Those who knew Urban remember him as a humble and kind individual-someone who led with quiet strength and treated others with genuine warmth. He was known for being family-focused, always placing loved ones at the center of his world. Whether through acts of service or simple presence, Urban's devotion to family was evident in all he did.
Urban found joy in the peaceful rhythm of fishing-a pastime that reflected his calm demeanor and appreciation for life's simple pleasures. Time spent by the water offered moments of reflection and connection that mirrored the values he held dear.
Urban was preceded in death by his parents Everett Cook Jr. and Rita Cook and his niece Nicole Jackson.
Left to cherish his memory is his spouse of 37 years Kimberly Griggs-Richter-Cook, sons Urban (James) Cook Jr., Steven Cook, honorary daughters, "his girls", Andrea (Dee) Johnson-McLaren & Aimee Johnson. His adopted babies Elizabeth Richter & CJ Richter (Sutton). Honorary grandchildren Thomas Lancaster & Alayna Lancaster. Sister Yvette (Joseph) Earl and brothers Everett (Sissy) Cook III, and Eric Cook along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as a lasting reminder of a life lived with purpose and heart. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2025, from 01:30 PM at Mill Creek Baptist Church 11 Old Kiln Road, Picayune, MS 39466.
