Funeral services for Ervin Valton “Val” Melson, 86, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, August 18, 2025, in the Rosser Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Fred Cash officiating. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 10-11 a.m. prior to the start of service.
Val Melson passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at his home. He was born in Jimtown, Oklahoma on July 19, 1939, to Lorene (Hyman) and Ervin Melson.
Val served his country in the United States Navy from 1959-1963 on the USS Delta AR9. He married Jim Ann Wright on November 17,1990 in Cleburne. Val worked in plumbing supplies and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James and Melvin “Bud” Melson; sisters, Rae Nell Melson and Rachel Medford; daughter, Debbie Bootz Donaghe; and son, Ron Bootz.
Val is survived by his wife, Jim Ann Melson; daughter, Kim Wright Rosser and husband, Monty, all of Cleburne; brothers, Larry Melson of Cleburne and Gary Melson and wife, Debbie, of Osceola, Texas; grandchildren, Bailey Bootz Barnes, David Henson and wife, Tina, Matt Rosser and wife, Bobbi, and Tim Rosser and wife, Chelsie; 13 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
