Our dear sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025. She was the only sister to 5 brothers. Valerie was born May 23, 1950 to George E. and Joyce Emery Harman.
She grew up on the family farm in South Jordan with her parents as well as grandparents John Dewey and Vera Harman. She enjoyed her grandmother's wonderful cooking. Her father and grandfather had a dairy farm in South Jordan where they also raised sheep and horses. Her job was to stomp the wool after the sheep were sheered. She loved her horses, riding in the fields and the river up into Sandy and Draper. She loved going to Layton to visit aunt Irene and uncle Ernest staying over with her cousins.
Valerie was a talented seamstress making clothes for many of us, crocheting and making beautiful quilts that she sold for a time. She worked for Dunford Bakery, National Semiconductor and a secretary for her brother Robert's stucco company. She loved classic cars, romance novels, traveling, camping and the family river trips spending time with family and friends.
She was up for anything, full of life. The last few years have slowed for her. We will cherish those times with her, the gifts of her talents she shared with us. We will miss her dearly.
She is survived by her brother: Robert (Terry), sister-in-laws: Susan Harman, Sandy Harman and Laura Harman, nieces and nephews: Brandy, Bridget, Stephanie, Shawn (Tiffany), Tiffany (Jeremy), Jenny (Scott), Jeremy (Christina) as well as Camie, Steven and Anthony. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers: David, Johnny, Rex and Joel. We would like to thank Bridget for her endless devotion to her as well as Terry for all she did for her and for her dear aunt Elaine for her service to her.
A celebration in her honor will be held on April 25, 2025 at 12:30 PM at the River Ridge Stake Center, 10168 S. 1000 W., South Jordan, Utah.

The writer of this very beautiful tribute to Valerie is spot on. She was a dear friend. We spoke on the phone and we would reminisce a little of our 50+ years, and laugh. We loved each other dearly, and always ended our conversations with a sentiment of that love. She endured a lot of pain. The loss of her family members took a piece of her heart each time. They´re together now, sitting with the World´s Greatest King. Love you, Valerie.

Well Cuz, my heart is broken because you are gone. I find myself randomly crying when I think of you and everything we would talk about. I would love to hear you say again, that damn Wendy (and then we would laugh). I know you can´t read this, but I hope you can feel my heart and feel my love for you, somewhere. I think of you when I eat at the Mexican restaurant by your home, when I get a McDonalds ice cream cone, drive on your street; and I still look for you by the tables in Wendover. We were best friends for a while. Each Memorial Day I would go with you to put flowers on graves and now I will be leaving flowers for you. I know you were in pain for many years and now you are free Cuz. May you rest in peace.

I love and miss you Cuz,
Wendy Monroe
