Vanessa E. Childs, age 70, a resident of Troy, AL died Monday, August 4, 2025. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 12:30 pm at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.

She is survived by her son Bobby Childs (Tammy); grandchildren: Lela and Layton; brothers: Raymond Beck (Sharon) and Bobby Beck (Jackie); sister: Cheryl Davis (Steve); and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents Ray and Wanda Beck; husband Stan Childs and sister, Pam Hickingbottom.

Ms. Childs was born in Fresno, California and graduated from Carothers Union High School where she was active in the FBLA. She joined the Air Force right out of high school where she met her husband Stan in South Dakota. After they were married, she and Stan moved to Troy to start their life together. She attended Massey Draughn business school and then worked as a business office manager for a nursing home in Troy, then Edge Hospital, Union Springs Hospital, and was currently with Baptist Hospital in Montgomery. She was loved dearly by her family and was very special to them. She treated everyone that came to the house as family. All of Lela and Layton's friends called her Grandma and she spoiled them like they were her own.

She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
