Veana Naomi Brummett Grimes, born on September 4, 1934, was the beloved daughter of the late John W. Brummett and Gracie Jackson Brummett. She was united in marriage to James Owen Grimes, who preceded her in death. Veana departed this life on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the age of 90 years, 10 months, and 12 days.
She is survived by her five children, Aretta Grimes, Gracie Wilson, Hilda Avlene Brummett, James Earstle Grimes, and Truman J. Grimes, all residing in London, Kentucky. She also leaves behind two siblings, Edna Faye Rigsby and John Melvin Brummett, both of Indiana, along with seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends who mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents and husband, Veana was preceded in death by her eleven siblings: Vercie Etta Payne, Hazel M. Brummett, Stella Mae Owens, Earstle Calvin Brummett, Dolly Pauline Hammack, George Riley Brummett, Charles Elmer Brummett, Edward V. Brummett, Jesse Arvel Brummett, Frank Louis Brummett, and Delbert Lee Brummett.
The funeral service for Veana Naomi Brummett Grimes will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Ben Jones officiating. Burial will follow in East Colony Cemetery in London, Kentucky.
The family will receive friends at Bowling Funeral Home beginning at 12 Noon on Saturday until the service hour of 1:00 p.m.
Pallbearers: Nathan Grimes, Tyler Grimes, Truman J. Grimes, Justin Jackson, Christian Williams, Jessie Hampton, and Dominic Spencer.
