Velda Ehresmann, age 96 of Tripp, SD passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Menno-Olivet Care Center in Menno.
Visitation is 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Goglin Funeral Chapel in Tripp. Funeral service begins at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Grace Hill Cemetery, Tripp.
Velda Ehresmann was born March 11, 1929 to Edwin and Linda (Pietz) Heibel on the family farm near Tripp. She was born a twin, with her sister, Violet. She attended Lake Region School District No. 11 through the 8th grade. Velda was baptized and confirmed at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Tripp.
On September 29, 1953 she married Herbert Ehresmann at Tripp. The twin sisters married brothers. Herbert and Velda lived in Tripp and had one son, Duane. Velda was a dedicated employee at the Tripp Good Samaritan Center and worked there nearly 30 years. She retired to be at home and take care of her son, Duane.
Velda loved to do needlework, embroider, crochet, watch TV, listen to old time music and tend to her flowers.
Velda also loved cats. Many a homeless cat in Tripp found shelter and affection at Velda’s house. She had stories to tell about many of them but her two favorite were Sweet Pea and Blackie.
After selling her home in Tripp in 2021, Velda lived in Parkston about three years then moved to the Menno Care Center where she passed away.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert; son, Duane; twin sister and brother-in-law, Violet and LeRoy Ehresmann.
Velda is survived by a niece, Judy Boddicker of Parkston; two great-nieces, Melissa (Jared) Saraga of Hatfield, PA and Carissa Boddicker of Parkston; and a great-nephew, Jeff (Jessica) Boddicker of Brandon, SD.
