Velva was employed at Alex's Restaurant and The Charleston Air Force Base for over twenty years.She later retired 20 yrs of government service She had a passion for braiding hair, event planning, and crafting
Velva was preceded in death by her siblings; Kenneth Singleton,Aundria Hamm,and Lockwood Anderson nephew Ricky Gourdine.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories with her children; Shelva Simmons (Howard), Shavena Wallace (Sean),Jerome Anderson,Shelli Powell,and Jamaal Anderson (Jessica) Siblings;Elizabeth Anderson,Damon Anderson (Shantel),James Whitley Jr.,and Antonette Whitley.Grandchildren;Sanabria,Hendrick,Africa,Tanaya,Dalvis Jr.,Kiamonie,Aayana,Haile Hamiyah, Jayden, Jamaal Jr, Ari Zai, TaMyra,Justice,JaSean, Taleya, Khalil,and Tyler. Great Grands; Amari,Khamiya,Amir,Skylah,Thyri,Zion,Mazi,Ti'ane,Raelynn,Rayne Mylah Special friend Daryl Jenkins, nieces,nephews,aunts,uncles,cousins,and a host of family and friends
Velva was a very kind and soft hearted person who believed that family came first and was always willing to support anyone who needed her help.She was very devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great grands (GiGi babies is what she called them). She loved nothing more than spending time with her GiGi babies. They were her everything and to them she was the best Mother, Grandmother,and GiGi ever.

Velva was my longtime co-worker. We worked together for twenty years in banquet catering on Joint Base Charleston. This was our Easter party. She loved people and was always friendly and smiling. She liked to play jokes and always made me laugh. We worked together as a team. I offer my condolences to her family. She will be missed.

What can I say about Velva Morton she was the most loving friend/sister she was very loving and devoted to her friends kids and grandchildren and great grandchildren I just want to Thank God for allowing me to be there for her until the end of her journey my CHI CHI can take her place with GOD until we meet again I will always love you VELVA GOD BLESS YOU ANGEL
