Vera Mae Williams, 98, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the Forest Hills Healthcare Center, Cincinnati, OH. Vera passed quietly at 11:30 A.M. with family at her side. Vera was born at St. Elizabeth Hospital on August 2, 1926 to parents Louis and Mae Nestheide. The family attended, and Vera was baptized at, St. Ben's Church in Covington, KY. Vera had one sibling, Jack Nestheide. She attended La Salette Academy in Covington, KY. After High School she worked briefly for a Cincinnati Bank in the money-counting department. Before marriage, Vera grew up wanting to be a dancer but remained a housewife and mother. Vera met and married then- Navy man David Penn Williams in Covington, KY on October 9, 1945. Their marriage continued until David's passing March 10, 2005. Vera and Dave had three children: Michael Louis, David Paul, and Joyce Ann. Vera never drove. She tried once but had a near-miss accident on Sleepy Hollow Rd. in Ludlow, KY and never got behind the wheel again. A story often repeated, the day Mike was born, Dave drove Vera to St. Elizabeth in Dave's Otis Elevator work van as they did not own a car at the time. The family of three moved to Ludlow, KY in 1949 where Paul and Joyce were born. The family moved to Erlanger, KY on June 30, 1958. Vera remained there at 21 James Ave (street address was changed to 307) until selling in 2014. Vera was preceded in death by parents, Louis and Mae Nestheide, brother Jack Nestheide, husband David Penn Williams, daughter Joyce Ann Williams, grandson David Sean Williams, and great-grandson Joshua Thomas. Left to carry on are sons Michael Louis (Melissa) Williams and David Paul (Marilyn) Williams, six grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Vera and Joyce have been cremated. There will be a Celebration of Life for both of them in June of this year.
