Verna Mae (Pryor) Granger, 95, formerly of Mount Calm, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2025 in Conroe. Funeral services will be 12:00 noon Sunday, May 25 at Wade Funeral Home in Hubbard with son-in-law Roy Tilley and daughter Terri Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Calm Old Town Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her late husband, Jesse Granger. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m - 12:00 noon on Sunday before the services at the funeral home.
Verna was born March 10, 1930 in Mount Calm to Frank and Co Ila (LaFevers) Pryor. She grew up in the Mount Calm area and moved to the Texas City area with her husband, Derrill Alexander. Verna raised four children and later moved back to the Mount Calm area where she married Jesse Granger. She lived a very long and happy life. Everyone who knew her remembered her by her smiling, cheerful nature. Over the past several years, she may not have known exactly who her family was but she was always a joy to spend time with. We will miss her so much!
Verna was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Granger; beloved daughter-in-law, Sandi Alexander; beloved son-in-law, Buddy Smith and grandson, Chris Brennan.
Survivors include son, David Alexander and wife, Becky; son, Allan Alexander; daughter, Terri Smith; daughter, Randi Tilley and husband, Roy and she will be missed by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Steven Smith, Jared Tilley, Matt Tilley, Blake Marion, KJ McNair and Roy Tilley.
