Vernon E. Anderson, age 84, passed away peacefully at his residence, Thursday evening, July 3, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Vern was born on August 13, 1940, to the late Lawrence and Wilma (Fick) Anderson in Mishicot. He attended Lincoln High School in Manitowoc. On October 20, 1958, he was united in marriage to the former Donna Schaffer in Maryland. She preceded him in death on March 12, 2021.

He joined the United States Navy and on September 19, 1957, Vern was sworn in. He attended bootcamp at Great Lakes Naval academy in Waukegan, IL. He then attended Hospital Corps School in 1958 and then was stationed at the Bainbridge Naval Base in Maryland.

Following the military, Vern managed and worked as a mechanic at the Triangle Zephyr Gas Station in the 70’s. Following the closure of the gas station, he started working at Paragon as a maintenance mechanic. Then once Paragon closed, he decided it was too soon to retire, so he went and got his GED and went to truck driving school and drove truck for many years for Wisconsin Nationwide until his retirement.

In his younger days he raced stock cars out at 141 Speedway in Maribel and later did drag racing in Kaukauna.

In Vern’s free time he enjoyed all sorts of hunting from duck, bear, and elk, but nothing topped his favorite classic deer hunting. He also enjoyed fishing and ice fishing, bowling, archery, horseshoes, golfing, loved going on road trips and traveling, loved frying out and especially enjoyed listening to his old classic country music.

He is survived by his four children: Ronald Anderson, Shari Anderson-Olson, Lisa Shimek (special friend, Robb Klein), and Janet (Tony) Anderson-Gagnon; seven grandchildren: Dustin (Lindsay) Olson, Kelley (Kenny) Kriescher, Daniel Shimek, Ian Laurin, Jimmi (Alex) Anderson, Caden Bennin and Brett Messman (special friend, Sienna); seven great-grandchildren Anthony, Aidan and Ava Kriescher, Skyler Shimek, Samuel, Levi, and Caleb Anderson. He is furthered survived by two brothers: Ted (Bette) Anderson and Wayne (Tracy) Anderson, as well as two sisters-in-law: Gail Anderson and Judy Anderson. Many cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, Lawrence and Wilma Anderson, he was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, a son-in-law, Edward Shimek, and three brothers and a sister-in-law, Richard Anderson, Harold Anderson, Donald (Rita) Anderson.

A memorial visitation will take place on Monday, July 14, 2025, from 9 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th Street, Two Rivers.

Following the visitation the family welcomes relative and friends to join them at 1:00 p.m. for a short brief time of sharing stories and memories at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum as well as military honors by members of American Legion Post #165 and VFW Post #1248 with entombment to follow.
