Victor Ailing Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 16, 2025.
Victor Dean Ailing passed into the night surrounded by those who loved him the most. He was a loving brother to his two sisters, always giving of himself freely. He was a huge fan of the Beatles and collected their albums as well as many other rock n roll albums. He loved his "stuff". In fact, he has a lot of "stuff". "Stuff" we now have to clean out of his apartment. But it was precious to him. He loved history, especially reading about Gettysburg and its many battles. He was an avid reader and loved movies. He collected DVD's and had many to choose from. This was part of his "stuff". Which again we now have to sort through.

He loved to laugh and joke. The three of us had a lot of inside jokes. He loved his mom and dad, and took care of them both before they passed.

Vic graduated from Meadowbrook High School in 1970. He worked at Elby's Big Boy as his first job and was there for years. He was in charge of the kitchen and would often go to other stores to train kitchen staff.

He had a cat. In 2002. We are still on the lookout for him.

Vic never met a stranger. He was always talking and making friends. He was sort of the unofficial greeter at Walmart. He would sit on the bench and talk to anyone who would listen. For some reason they took the benches out. But….he would still go out and do his thing. He loved the S.E.A.T. bus and would just ride it around so he could make more friends. I'm sure he made someone's day.

One of his favorite things to do with his sister Sheila was walk through cemeteries and find Civil War tombstones. He was always on the lookout for a Civil War Memorial Flag. So, if you are missing one, it could be that little devil Vic who "collected" it for his "stuff"

The thing he loved to do with his sister Ruthe was to watch Horror movies. They would crack jokes the whole time. He had a lot of movies to choose from. VHS tapes. Does anyone really have a VHS player anymore? He did. It was part of his "stuff".

Barely surviving are his two sisters Ruthe (Jeffrey) Kapnick and Sheila (Ellie) MacColl (Doug) who loved him so much. It will take a lot of grieving to get over his passing, he was our brother and best friend.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
