Victor Brian Wayhan of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on August 18, 2025.
Victor was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Darel and Jerry Wayhan. The oldest of five children, he grew up in a close-knit family that moved often as his father worked as a petroleum engineer. Together, they enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, hiking, and exploring nature. From an early age, Victor excelled in sports, and by high school, he was a three-sport athlete who earned numerous accolades for his talent and dedication.
During his senior year of high school, Victor met the love of his life, Cory, in debate class. They dated throughout college at Bowling Green State University and married soon after, beginning what would become a joyful 45-year marriage. Once married, they followed Victor's family to Houston and were blessed with three daughters-Shanna, Stacy, and Summer-and later, the gift of a son, Isaiah, who joined the family in seventh grade. These children became the center of his world.
Victor was a devoted family man who worked hard to provide for his loved ones. He took great pride in helping put his children through college and encouraging them in their faith journeys. He loved supporting their accomplishments, family movie nights, and cheering on Aggie football together. He joyfully witnessed each of his daughters marry men of Christ, and his greatest joy has been the birth of his nine grandchildren, who lovingly knew him as "Poppi."
Victor's passion for learning and helping others inspired him to return to school to pursue a career in teaching. He earned his MBA, M.Ed., and ultimately his Ph.D. He began his teaching career at Sam Houston, but quickly returned to the University of Houston, where he helped build the Supply Chain program. Victor founded the Sourcing and Procurement Organization (SPO), which helped thousands of students launch their careers. He was a gifted teacher, a generous mentor, and a trusted guide to countless students and colleagues over the years.
While passionate about supply chain, Victor's deepest devotion was to his faith in Jesus Christ. Over the years, he was a dedicated member of several churches, teaching a large Bible study at The Met, serving as an Elder at Bayou City Fellowship, and leading as Executive Director at Pearl Street Church. His love for Scripture and history led him to study ancient Egypt and the biblical narrative from creation to the end times. Out of this passion, he developed a 10-week Foundations class to guide people through a deeper understanding of the creation story and God's redemptive plan.
Victor's life was a testament to his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. He sought to live out the gospel in every aspect of his life-through his teaching, mentoring, and devotion to his family. After a brave fight with cancer, he entered into the presence of his Savior with the same faith and hope that guided him throughout his life. He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and discipleship, inspiring all who knew him to seek Christ with the same passion and commitment that defined his own journey. Though Victor will be deeply missed, his joy was always anchored in the promise of eternal life with Jesus.
