Vijay Vijal Gopaul, aged 73, peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025. Born in Trinidad and Tobago to the late Thakur and Pulbas Gopaul, Vijay's journey took him to the United States at the young age of 16, where he built a fulfilling life.
A dedicated professional, he retired after over 40 years of service with Radiator Specialty in Indian Trail. Vijay was a longtime member of Hope Family Worship in Pageland, SC, where he found community and joy in fellowship. In his personal time, he cherished gardening and taking care of his yard, as well as cooking his beloved curry chicken and hoedodgers for family gatherings.
Vijay is lovingly remembered by his sons, Andrew Gopaul and Shawn Gopaul (Hannah), both of Pageland, SC, his daughters, Shantie Mathis (Wayne) of Pageland, SC, and Kristina Lewis (Andrew) of Cheraw, SC, and his former wife of 38 years and mother of their children, Cindy Crump . He is also survived by his brothers Vidia, Satyadeo, Ram, Pretam, and Baljit Gopaul, along with his sister Prematee Gopaul, all from Trinidad and Tobago. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Oakley Gopaul, Dash Lewis, Kylee Mathis, Rylan Mathis, and Tristan Mathis, as well as his great-grandchild Grayson Mathis and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Vijay was preceded in death by his beloved parents. His memory will forever be cherished by all who had the honor to know him.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Hope Family Worship Center, 32249 SC-9, Pageland, SC and other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Shawn Gopaul, 317 Salebarn Lane, Pageland, SC.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon, Thursday, July 10, 2025 at Hope Family Worship Center, Pageland, SC.
Kiser Funeral Home has been entrusted to serve the Gopaul family.
