Virginia Bitting, 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday January 19, 2025. She was born in Hackensack, New Jersey, to Albert and Margaret Aldridge and was the oldest of four children. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and husband Louis Bitting.
Ginny's life was defined by love, devotion, and fierce determination. She met her high school sweetheart, Louis Bitting, when she was just 15 years old. Together, they built a beautiful life over 31 years of marriage, raising two sons: Robert L. (Patricia) and Michael J. (Kimberly). Ginny was a proud grandmother to 5 grandchildren: Zachary, Patrick, Nicholas, Madeleine and Miranda, and proud great-grandmother to Nora and Zoey. In addition to her immediate family, Ginny is survived by her two sisters: Marjorie Fenston (The late Stuart) and Barbara Bene (Chuck), and brother Gary (Lesa), numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will deeply miss her warmth, kindness, and infectious smile.
Ginny had many interests and talents that brought her joy. She was an avid and talented bridge player who looked forward to being with her bridge playing friends. Ginny was a gifted artist who utilized mediums including painting, pottery, photography and fiber crafts throughout her lifetime. Ginny was often called upon to bring one of her pies to a family meal!
Ginny worked as an administrative assistant for the Space Telescope Science Institute at Johns Hopkins University and took great pride in her work. She later earned a degree in Art from University of Nebraska. When she transitioned to volunteer work, she served many diverse organizations including Catonsville United Methodist Church.
Ginny will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be arranged for early May, 2025 at Blakehurst 1055 W Joppa, Rd., Towson Maryland 21204.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Scouting America, Baltimore Area Council at https://baltimorescouting.org, designated to Broad Creek Memorial Scout Reservation, in memory of Virginia Bitting.
