It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Virginia Carol
Kantro, who died peacefully on Jun 23, 2025, at SGMC in Valdosta, GA, at
the age of 83. She was a resident of Jasper, Florida. Virginia retired with
FDLRS, (Florida Diagnostic Learning and Resource System) of Jasper,
Florida. She worked with children, teachers, parents and families. She
worked with Children and Family Services and was certified to help people
with Autism and their families. She was passionate about helping those in
need.
Virginia had an impact on each person she interacted with. She was
brilliant, and very talented. She was amazing at air brushing and stripping
vehicles, refinishing and upholstering furniture, painting, making ceramics,
and cooking for her family. She had a green thumb and wanted you to enjoy
and be proud of her plants and trees. She loved to look at every one of them
even if you didn't enjoy them as she did. She always gave you a plant even if
you couldn't keep it alive for long. She loved to travel. Her most memorable
trip was overseas with her family to the UK, Netherlands, Belgium, France,
and Germany to see where her family originated. We visited the church in
Drolshagen, Germany where our family took prayers, were born, ate,
farmed, loved, and rested their heads. She drove to Key West with her
daughter enjoying the top down on her convertible soaking up the sun. She
was in the delivery room for the birth of her grandchildren and stayed to
help after they were born. She was courageous, inspirational, generous,
kind, loving, private, and giving person. She loved her entire family, despite
their quirks and dysfunction. She worried about them, rooted for them,
protected them, resented them, forgave them, and always kept on loving
them.
Virginia will be desperately missed by all those that she's left behind. Our
hearts are so broken by this unexpected loss. She was one of a kind and to
be loved by her was to be truly blessed.
Virginia was proceeded in death by her late husband Ronald Kantro, mother
Florence Brickley, stepfather Jerry Brickley JR, father Robert A. Lee, and
half brother Allen Lee. She is survived by stepmother Viola Lee from
Boothbay Harbor, Maine, her daughter Kimberly Lindsey and husband Jerry
Lindsey Jr from Naylor, Georgia, her son Scott Kantro and wife Nancy
Kantro from Lake Park, Georgia, her brother Bob Lee from Port St. Lucie,
Florida, her half brothers Brian Lee, Russell Lee, Christopher Lee, and half
sister Taryn Flanagan and husband Darin Flanagan from Boothbay Harbor,
Maine. She has 5 grandchildren Sabrina Newell and husband Mikey Newell,
Ashley Hansen, Falon Kantro, Bonnie Lindsey and Jerry Lindsey III. She also
has great grandchildren Paisley Newell, Ryker Newell, and Tanner Newell
(on the way), Tobias Haddaway, and Hunter Hoyt. She has many cousins,
nieces, nephews, and friends.
