Virginia Lucille Fleming Rollins Ballard, 81, of Spartanburg, met her Savior face to face on Thursday, July 10th, 2025. Affectionately known as Memaw, Virginia was born to the late Homer Houston Fleming and Flora Lillyfair Case in Henderson County, NC. Virginia spent her early years surrounded by her beloved siblings, nieces, and nephews. She married the love of her life, the late Alvin E. Ballard, Sr. in 1967, and together they raised their children in Boiling Springs, SC. Virginia dedicated her life to rearing multiple generations of children in her home in service to the Lord. She served faithfully in children’s ministries at Bethel Assembly of God, Switzer Church of God, and was a member of Woodruff Church of God.
She is survived by her daughter Shannon Kurrie; her grandchildren Valerie Kitchens, Christian Brown (Gerry), Mark Rollins (Wendy), and Chris Rollins who were all reared in her home. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Ariel, Logan, William, Derek, Bryson, Caitlyn, Tyler, Chase, Christian, Brianna, and Laila. She was blessed with two great-great-grandchildren, Jade and Jasmine this year. She is also survived by her grandson-in-law Daniel Sarvghad and a host of nieces and nephews that she held dear.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her children Howard Mack Rollins and Alvin E. Ballard, Jr. and her grandchildren Angela Sarvghad and Jonathan Ballard; her brothers Jack, Brownlow, and Houston Fleming; and her sisters Gladys Ruff and Helen Taylor.
The family will receive friends between 12:00 - 1:15 PM on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Woodruff Church of God, 6385 SC-101, Woodruff, SC 29388. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM following the visitation. Pastor Jonathan Knight will officiate the service. The Burial will follow the service in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to thank Dr. Chris Nowatka for his exceptional care over 20 years and also thank the staff of Gentiva Hospice for their extraordinary care and ministry. May God forever bless and keep Angel, Jessica, Misti, Jonathon, Chad, Norman, and Savannah.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Virginia’s memory to the Church of God Children’s in Mauldin, SC, or to St. Luke’s Free Medical Clinic in Spartanburg, SC.
