Virgil was born to James M. and Beatrice Temple Burden in Mississippi on March 22nd, 1937.
Virgil is survived by his wife Barbara Cain Burden of Sallis, Miss, his son Ronnie Burden (Connie) and daughter Angela Diffey (Stan)both of Sallis, Mississippi, daughters Gay Burt ( David) of Jackson, Mississippi, and Carol Nabors ( Dwayne) of Kosciusko, Mississippi 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 21, 2025, visitation at Mortimer-Southern Funeral Home, 100 Pine Street, in Lexington, Miss 39095 from 9:30 until 11 AM and a graveside service will follow at Mizpah Cemetery in Durant at 11:30 AM. Rev. David Cain will be officiating.

Ms Barbara, we just found out about Mr Gene. We are so sorry. Mr Gene was a treasure and will be missed. He and daddy (Buddy) are up there listening to the angels sing and play bluegrass hymns. We love you!! Mary McMahon, Angela and Manfred Jolley

W. A. and Martha Miles - Our sympathy, love, and prayers to Barbara and children, grands and great-grands. W. A. and I will always remember Gene and his love for music. We met up at many musical events and had a good time visiting and talking about old times when his family lived near us in northern Attala and southern Montgomery Counties. He was a good man and will be missed.
