Virginia Rowe Obituary

Virginia "Ginnie" Ann (Lanker) Rowe passed away the afternoon of July 8th surrounded by family. She was the daughter of Herbert Ned Lanker and Iona Virginia Lanker (Rice), born May 9, 1935 in Lima, OH.
Ginnie married Alvin Lewis Rowe and they were married for 68 years.
Ginnie was a member of the Durand United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. In addition to spending time with family, she enjoyed family trips to Bruce Bay Cottages in Bruce Mines, Canada, spending winters in Clermont, FL, summers at Myers Lake in Byron, MI, boating, shooting skeet, snowmobiling, dancing, and playing blackjack. Her favorite jobs included being a bank teller, selling jewelry and working for Ross Medical Education Center.
Her love and support was felt by many; Ginnie is the epitome of a life well lived.
She is survived by her children; Michael (Arturo) Rodriguez-Rowe, Lansing, MI, Julie (Doug) Powell, Durand, MI, grandchildren; Kris (Amanda House) Powell, Jessica (Jake) Zdunic, and Kassie Powell (Lynsey Auell), as well as great grandchildren Jacob, Josie, Sebastian and River.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Lewis Rowe, parents Herbert N. Lanker and Iona V. Lanker.
There will be visitation at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes in Durand on Sunday, July 13th from 6:00pm-8:00pm, and on Monday beginning at 10:00am. Funeral service will be on Monday, July 14th at 11:00am, also at the funeral home. A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow the service at the Durand VFW Post.
