Vonnie Lynn Stenger, 74, a devoted mother, caregiver, and friend, died peacefully in her home on July 1. Vonnie was born into the Beto family and raised in Detroit Lakes, MN.
A funeral service will be held on at 11am on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. Vonnie will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Cemetery following refreshments after the service.
After graduating high school in 1968, she and Denis Dahl married on January 31, 1970, and raised a beautiful family together. She studied nursing while working at Pamida and, later, Evans supermarket.
Vonnie and Donnie Stenger were wed on May 27, 2000, and enjoyed many happy years together fawning over 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Vonnie loved spending time talking with family and friends. She enjoyed working in her yard, travel, and learning new things. One of her many joys was working with children at the Lincoln Education Center and volunteering with the Boys & Girls Club of America.
Vonnie was known by all as a sweet person with a kind spirit. She is survived by her children, Denise (Todd), Jeremy (Dianne), Adam (Chris), and her siblings Allen (Nancy), Merlin (Cathleen), Mark (Rose), Nancy (Scott), sister-in-law Cindy, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She loved attending services at First Lutheran Church. She is greeted in heaven by her parents Amos and Verneil, her husband Donald, her sister Arlis, sister-in-law Diane, and brother-in-law Gary.
