Mr. Watson is survived by his daughter, Lene' Watson Ricks (Greg), Troy, Alabama; son, Kevin Watson (Wendy), Troy, Alabama; and son, Brett Watson, Panama City Beach, Florida. Sister-in-law: Kathryn Watson. Siblings: Don Watson (Carolyn), Barbara Toole, Johnny Watson (Grace), and Bob Watson (Jackie). He was predeceased by his parents, Isom and Daisy Watson; his son, Brandon Watson; and his brothers, Keith Watson and Paul Watson (Paula), and his brother-in-law, Larry Toole.
Mr. Watson was born on October 2, 1933, in Geneva County, Alabama, where he spent his early years and graduated from Slocomb High School. He later settled in Troy, Alabama, which became his lifelong home. He honorably served in the U.S. Army, including time stationed at Fort Rucker and an overseas assignment in France following World War II. Following his military service, Mr. Watson worked for Chevron Chemical Company for many years. In 1989, he opened The Pines Restaurant in Troy. Through the restaurant, he took great pride in serving the community and forming lasting connections with those around him. He eventually retired more than twenty years ago and continued to make Troy his home.
Dear Friends and Family, we want to let you know after careful consideration, we will not be holding a funeral service. We deeply appreciate your love, support, and prayers during this time.
Please know how much it means to us to feel your care and compassion as we remember and honor our father's life in our own personal ways.
In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions can be sent to the "Building Fund" at Southside Baptist Church, 522 South Brundidge Street, Troy, AL 36081.
The family would like to personally thank his special caregivers at Troy Health and Rehabilitation and DaySprings Hospice.
With love and gratitude,
