Barton - Walter A. Barton, age 86, of Macclenny, Florida passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025, at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was born in Etna, Ohio on July 26, 1938, to the late Rufus E. Barton and Exie Richardson Barton. Walter was raised in Marion, Ohio where he remained until making Baker County his home in 1974. From an early age, Walters family instilled values of hard work, dedication, and discipline which were impactful throughout his life. Following school, Walter proudly served our country in the United States Navy where he continued to grow and develop essential skills. He was honored to serve and took great pride in being an American. Shortly after his honorable discharge from the military, he pursued a career as a forklift mechanic. He was very successful professionally and respected for his expertise and knowledge. Walter was most passionate about his family, cherished making memories, and spending time with them. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 43 years, Betty Louise Smith Barton, a loving father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather. When not tending to his family or working, Walter loved being outdoors with his fishing pole in hand awaiting the next big catch. He also enjoyed camping trips and made each moment unforgettable. Walter was an avid Nascar fan who strongly rooted for Dale Earnhardt and Kyle Busch. He rarely missed a race. Walter will always be remembered for his kind heart, generous nature, and always lending a helping hand to those in need. He was a blessing to many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Walter was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Louise Smith Barton; brothers, Franklin Barton and John Henry; sisters, Helen Cope and Mildred Louise Barton; and granddaughter, Jessica Barton

Walter is survived by his loving children, Chris Edward (Bobbi) Barton of Jacksonville, FL, Keith Floyd Barton (Tammy) of Sanderson, FL, Karen Sue (Will) Davis of Macclenny, FL, Tina Louise Barton of Jacksonville, FL, and Debbie Lynn (Allen) Oliver of Macclenny, FL; brother, Herman Barton of Flowery Branch, GA; sister, Marlin Vickers of Commerce, GA; 15 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren; along with several extended family members and friends.
