Wanda Camp Obituary

Wanda Rosell Camp, age 95, passed away peacefully at her home in Leander, Texas, Sunday, June 29, 2025, surrounded by her loving son and his family. The visitation with her family will be held at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, July 2, 2025 followed by the Funeral service in the Chapel at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, July 2, 2025 followed by interment at Eastlawn Memorial Park. A woman of unwavering faith, she placed God above all else and committed her life to her family and serving others. She was a quiet force of kindness, selflessness, and devotion.
Wanda was born December 5, 1929 in Brown County, Texas, to Willie Oscar Bennett and Lillie Mae Welch-Bennett, Wanda's early years in Brownwood were grounded in community and fellowship-a foundation that shaped her relationships and works of service throughout her life. On December 20, 1947, she married the love of her life, Billy Eugene Camp. They shared over five decades together until his passing on December 13, 2003. When he became a pastor, she served alongside him while he ministered faithfully, supporting his calling while living her own through acts of grace and steadfast presence. They served congregations such as Elm Grove, Central Baptist in Brownwood, Blanket Baptist, and Lohn Baptist.
Wanda also enjoyed working many years alongside her husband for the newspaper at the Brownwood Bulletin. She later continued her quiet service to others, working with children at Little Dude Ranch Day Care in Brownwood and then Little Sunshine School in Leander. She carried graciousness wherever she went. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who filled her days and memories with purpose and joy. Her humor-gentle, witty, and playful-was a constant source of warmth. Her nurturing shaped their lives in quiet but lasting ways.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Penny Jo Camp; husband, Billy E. Camp; brother, Oscar Ray Bennett; and sister, Estellene Bennett Cole.
Wanda is survived by her son, Billy D. Camp; grandsons, Austin (Dawn) Camp and Benjamin Camp; great-grandchildren, Desiree Pemberton (Matt) Farsjo, Alora Camp (Logan) Ryan, Braiden Camp, Alexander Camp and his siblings; and a host of extended family and friends who were touched by her faithful heart.
Wanda always set an example of love-as a Christian, a wife, a mother, and a grandmother-that remains a guiding presence in the lives of her family and friends. Wanda continued to sing praises to the Lord in her final days. Although we will miss our "Ma", we find comfort through her faith in Christ. Her memory will surely be for a blessing.
