Wanda Smith Galvan
The Duncan family mourns the loss of its most treasured member.
In the early morning hours of July 16, 2025 the sweet, generous, kind soul known as Wanda Smith Galvan took her last breath.
Born in
Lakeport, California on November 30, 1953, Wanda was a lifelong resident of Lake County with a warm, welcoming home on the Robinson Rancheria in Nice, California.
Having lost her parents at a young age, Wanda was raised by her maternal grandmother Mabel Duncan on the original Robinson Rancheria on Highway 29.
Wanda was very caring and helpful to all. It's understandable her life's work was in service of others. She was a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant employed for years by a local convalescent home. She spent years as an In-Home Support Services worker for her maternal aunt, Dorie Timmons.
She was employed by Robinson as an Indian Child Welfare Assistant at which time she accepted the role of temporary foster placement to a newborn baby girl, just three days old. She went on to become the permanent placement, foster mom and raised the child to adulthood. She leaves behind her foster daughter, Joanne John, also known as Jolisa. She ended her years of service supervising the cleaning staff of the Robinson Rancheria Casino Resort's hotel.
When not working full-time, she was busy cooking and hosting memorable family gatherings at her home for holidays, birthdays and farewell events for lost family members.
Wanda toiled tirelessly, always showing her love through service. She enjoyed her life to the fullest. For many years her favorite pastimes were going out dancing to live music, and spending time with family watching Lifetime Movies. She also enjoyed her unbreakable bond with Marlboro and Pepsi.
Wanda gave birth to two sons. She was predeceased by her eldest son, Stoney Dustin Timmons. She leaves behind grandchildren, Stoney Jr., Kiyana Rose, and Eric Timmons and great grandchildren, Kehlani Timmons, Antonio Timmons, and Kiara and David.
She also leaves behind her youngest son, Enrique Dion Quintero, who she called "Ricky", as well as heartbroken, Ricky's daughter, Deven Ray, who she helped raise from infancy. Deven blessed her Mom with the gift of great granddaughters, Amara Boone and Adina Boone. Wanda spent countless joyfully hours enjoying them. Babiee Quintero, her children, Julian, Alonzo and Angelina. Maleah Quintero, and his twins, Valain Quintero, and Dabont Quintero.
Wanda was also predeceased by her maternal grandmother, Mabel Duncan; her mother Urshlene Duncan Smith; brothers, Dwight Smith, and William Kelly; her favorite uncle, Dixie Duncan, who referred to her as "Sammy". He would say, "Sammy can do no wrong". And cousins, Eric Earl Duncan "Ollie", Joe Quintero "Pepetalo", Kevin John Mindez "Pa", and Flint Cory Timmons her "Buddy".
Wanda sadly also leaves behind those she was the closest to.
She will be missed by Flint's older brother, Faron Cody Timmons. They loved, cared and supported each other throughout their adult lives. She lovingly referred to Faron as "Brother". Faron's son, Willy Tujays Timmons and daughter, Corrie Murray.
Wanda will never be forgotten by her "Sister Steph", Stephanie Rodriguez; Stephanie's children, Monty Willis Timmons, Sonya Horne, and Wheat Perez; Monty's daughters, Aiyana Timmons, Keira Gama Timmons, and son, Luniq Gama Timmons; Sonya's children, Jisel Horn "Selly", Jenaya Horne "Boots", and D'Avaian "Pop"; her auntie Sam had a special affection for her niece, "Boots"; Wheat's daughters, Idalia Perez "Lala", and twins, Vitalia and Talia Perez "Tooties". All of Wanda's nieces and nephews adored their "Auntie Sam".
A family, a tribe, a community sadly mourns the loss of a loving Mother, Grama, Sister and Auntie as they say their final goodbyes to Ms. Wanda Galvan on Friday, July 18, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary
