Wanda passed away on July 13, 2025, in Lafayette. She was born on January 24, 1951, in Henderson, Texas, to Edward Jewel and Mary Christine (York) Stowe. She grew up in Tatum and had made her home in Lafayette since 2000.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Wanda's love extended far beyond her immediate family-she was a nurturing and supportive presence to her entire extended family. Known for her talents in the kitchen and her creative flair for floral arrangements, she brought joy and beauty to every celebration, from birthdays to weddings to anniversaries. Wanda had a gift for making any occasion special.
She was also the fun-loving sister and aunt who kept everyone laughing. Whether she was crafting a cardboard birthday cake to prank a sister or staging an elaborate April Fool's joke about a lottery win and surprise vacation, Wanda's humor was infectious. Yet behind every laugh, there was a heart always ready to help when someone needed support. Her unwavering kindness and loyalty defined who she was.
Wanda was a woman of faith, a lifelong Baptist, and a steadfast follower of Jesus Christ. Her family finds comfort in knowing she now rests in the arms of her Savior.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Christine Stowe; her son, Alan Turner; her sisters, Dorothy Anderson, Linda Colcord, and Barbara Jones; and her beloved aunt, Wilma Broome.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 30 years, Jerry King; her granddaughter, Anna Turner; her daughter-in-law, Suzanne Bacque Turner; siblings, William Stowe, Jerry Stowe, Jimmy Stowe and wife Julie, Marion Arceneaux and husband Jody, Beverly Langlinais and husband Ryan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Ryan Langlinais, Jody Arceneaux, Jaydon Arceneaux, Kyle Winfield, Mark Stowe, and Mike Thedford will serve as pallbearers.
