In Loving Memory Of
Wanda Elaine Taft
Wanda Taft was born March 5, 1937, to Rudy & Dora Munk in Chewelah, Washington. She had a twin brother, Wayne, who is deceased. She and Wayne were the 9th & 10th children of Rudy & Dora. She graduated from Jenkins High School in 1955.
In 1963, she married James Taft, the love of her life. He was in the Air Force, so they lived in Riverside, California, then in Guam then back to Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane. While living in Spokane, Wanda worked for the Layrite as a bookkeeper for 25 years retiring in 1998.
They purchased a cabin on Loon Lake in 1971 which was their getaway for many years. In 1998, they purchased the land on which they built their retirement home back in Chewelah. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran church; she was a bookkeep for the church several years and participated in a weekly Bible Study. She loved her animals especially her dogs. She showed her love of the outdoors with her gardening skills and made a beautiful home.
Survived by her nieces, Pamela and her husband Dave Clizer and family; Nicki and her husband Joel Tompkins and family; Stepdaughter Sandra and her husband Chris and family. Also, numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Funeral services are set for Saturday, May 31st at 11 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chewelah with a reception following in the church fellowship hall. Visitation with viewing will be an hour before the service. Burial will be at Chewelah Memorial Park. Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church and SPCA.
