Wanda Irene Taylor, 96, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 8:35 am July 22, 2025 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon. She was born September 21, 1928 in Hamilton County, Illinois to the late Earl and Elsie (Lane) Russell. Wanda married Delmar Taylor on July 13, 1946. They were blessed with seventy-four years of marriage before he preceded her in death on October 18, 2020.
Wanda is survived by her children, Delmar Leon Taylor of Pace, Florida and Shirley Thrasher and husband, Mike of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Russell Taylor and wife, Alyssa, Richard Taylor; and Jeri Hudgens and husband, Jason; great-grandchildren, Jordan Taylor, Sloane Hudgens, Campbell Hudgens, Maddie Taylor, Vaughn Hudgens, and Aaron Taylor; siblings, Frank Russell and Marietta Manring; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Wanda was preceded in death by her grandson, Zachary Thrasher; daughter-in-law, Jacque Taylor; siblings, Norma Watt, Clayton Russell, Roberta McMahon, and Gordon Russell.
Inurnment will be held at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Wanda's honor to Leukemia Society or Shiners Hospital for Children.
