On July 4, 1931, a "Little Firecracker Baby" arrived at the Waldo and Alma Hoffman home in rural Greene County, Missouri. Warren was the only child and grew up on his parent's farm as they dealt with the Great Depression and drought. He attended a rural county school before graduating from Republic High School. He cherished memories as a member of the Republic FFA.
Warren attended Bethany Christian Church and one night he caught the eye of Jimmie Keeney. The story goes that she winked at him at church while he was on a date with another young woman. The wink led to a marriage on July 19, 1952 and they settled on his parent's farm. In 1956, he was convinced to move to Laclede County to better ground with a few chickens, a cow and their two year old son. A daughter, Donna, arrived in 1957.
Warren continued farming until retirement and was always open to new and innovative ideas to enhance the farm. The size of the farm increased over the years and is still in the family today. Many people were welcomed into the home and Warren wanted all to eat with them if they were there at noon time.
The treasured moments in Warren's life were with his cattle operation and all the facets of it, especially with his dog and gator in the later years. He was often seen traveling over the farm and "inspecting" what was going on with other family members. He truly was on cloud nine in his truck and trailer as he went to various sale barns weekly. It seemed all aches, pains and depression was gone on sale day. He made many friends while attending sales and offered words of encouragement and his opinion on how to accomplish tasks pertaining to farming operations. But, he also liked to take spicy peanuts along and get his friend T.J. Shadel to take some.
Warren was never ashamed of his testimony and love for the Lord and was a member of Southern Heights Christian Church for many years where he served as elder, teacher and encourager. There never was question of where the family would be on Sunday mornings.
Warren is survived by his wife, Jimmie; one son, Melvin Hoffman and his wife Arlene of Lebanon, MO; one daughter, Donna Vest and her husband John, also of Lebanon, Missouri; six grandchildren, Adam Hoffman and his wife Sandi, Chara Lally and her husband Zack, Kayla Burns and her husband Ben, Becky Mullis and her husband Daniel, Joni Floyd and her husband Gavin and Jamie Williamson and her husband, Jason; great-grandchildren, Olan, Mattie, Grant, Sloane, Grayden, Judson and Martin; other relatives; church family and many friends.
Those preceding him in death include his parents.
Dad and Pops, fly high with a new body and enjoy seeing your cattle graze with your dog, Cocoa, by your side. Now you can hear the auctioneer. Please be patient with us as you roar by in your Cummins.
Memorials have been suggested to Sho-Me Christian Youth Home or North Liberty Cemetery.

All the family,
There is not a man that I admired more than Warren. He was someone I respected very much. A loving and dedicated leader of his family and his community. A tremendous mentor to anyone interested in growing crops and animals the right way. Most of all a quiet but fearless warrior for our Lord Jesus Christ. What else should you say about any man. Well done sir. It was my privilege to know you.
