Wayne A. Ochampaugh, 86, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2025. He was born in Amsterdam, NY on March 12, 1939 to the late Elwyn Ochampaugh and Doris Hime.

Wayne served our country in the Navy, and received an honorable discharge. After his service he was an established Electrician, leatherworker and co-owner of a roofing company.

Wayne loved to travel all over the place and completed one dream to visit Alaska. He loved to spend time with his family for holidays, celebrations and for casual visits. Wayne played many card games all his life, his favorite was playing pitch. Wayne found a lot of joy and comfort listening to music from his favorite orchestra to other artists. Wayne was a lifelong fan of the Cleveland Browns. Wayne was true to his faith by attending church every chance he got.

Wayne was also a member of the Moose Club where he enjoyed music, games and spending time with his friends!

Wayne is survived by his children, Steve Ochampaugh of Gloversville, Susan Rockafellow (Mark) of Lancaster, PA and Sharon Miller of Fredericksburg, VA.

Wayne is survived by his sisters, Gloria Broderick, Johnstown, NY and Claudia Burlett of Johnstown, NY.

Wayne is survived by his loving grandchildren, Mark S. Rockafellow, Kyle E. Rockafellow, Kaylee S. Miller and Ashlee A. Miller; along with his great grandchildren, Kylie, Kamden and Killian Rockafellow. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.

My brother-in-law was a major influence on our family while our kids were growing up together. Wayne and I had many good times together. Many fond memories. With love, Jim and Betty Brown.

Wayne was my big brother! When I was a little girl he rode me all over Gloversville on the handle bars of his bike!
We stayed close through the years!
Our kids grew up together and we only lived two blocks apart.
In later years he lived with my husband and me. The last ten years he's been in the Sentinel of Amsterdam. He last lived at Wilkenson's in Amsterdam. I will miss him! RIP brother till we meet again.
