REV. WILL CURTIS TABRON, son of the late James Tabron and Matilda Lee Tabron, was born on September 2, 1934, in Halifax County, North Carolina. He transitioned from this life on July 4, 2025, in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
At a young age, he accepted Christ as his Savior at Lee's Chapel Baptist Church. He grew up in the Tabron Community, where he met the woman who would become his wife, Pauline Mae Richardson. They were united in holy matrimony on August 7, 1954, and were blessed with two sons and a daughter.
In 1955, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving honorably at duty stations across the United States, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. As a young man, he developed a passion for automobiles, and during his military service, that passion grew to include a love for aircraft-especially the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.
While stationed in Anchorage, Alaska, he was ordained a deacon and later called to the ministry. He always believed he was not just called to preach, but to pastor. Upon retiring from the Air Force in 1975 after 20 years of service, he moved his family back to North Carolina and enrolled at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, graduating in May 1977 with an Associate in Divinity degree.
He went on to serve as pastor of several churches in North Carolina, including Enon Baptist, Mt. Zion Baptist, Shiloh Missionary Baptist, and St. Luke Baptist. He also served as interim pastor of Bear Swamp Baptist Church. In addition to his pastoral work, he founded CuPa Christian Bookstore in Littleton and, with the help of his daughter Valerie, authored a collection of sermons titled Show Yourself a Man.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Frances Verbena Lee, Queenie Elmira Thompson, Nannie Tabron Williams, and Viola Beatrice Borders; and his brothers James Robert Tabron, Thomas Chester Tabron, Fred Edward Tabron, J.D. Melton Tabron, and Maurice Devone Tabron.
His memory will be forever cherished by his devoted wife of 70 years, Pauline; his children: Michael Tabron (Pamela) of Wake Forest, NC; Valerie Jackson (Johnny) of Louisa, VA; and Ronald Tabron (Lorraine) of Apex, NC; eight grandchildren: Erica Tabron, Karen Pierce (Demario), Tiffani Bowe, Brittney Robertson (Kyle), Lt. Col. Anthony Bowe (Ursala), Sherrick Tabron, Marcus Bowe, and Kevin Tabron; four great-granddaughters: Serenity Pierce, Amara Bowe, Averi Bowe, Alora Bowe; and three great-grandsons: Devin Tabron, Deion Bowe, and Mason Bowe. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Dorothy Tabron, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 12:00 noon until the funeral service time of 1:00 p.m. at the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 2241 NC Highway 43, in the Arcola Community of Warrenton, NC. The Pastor, Rev. Michael Richardson, will preside, and Rev. Richard L. Battle will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
