Reverend William J. Armstrong 79 of Benton, Ill. passed away peacefully Thursday evening October 17, 2024 at the Charleston Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Charleston, Illinois with his son Bill Jr. by his side. Reverend Armstrong was born July 29, 1945 to the late Laura Mae and William Jasper Armstrong. He married Brenda K. (Reed) Armstrong on August 23, 1969. She proceeded him in death January 25, 2023. Reverend Armstrong proudly served in the US Army. Surviving Reverend Armstrong is his son Bill Jr. (Kim) of Charleston, Illinois, several sisters and brothers-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Reverend Armstrong in death along with his wife Brenda Kay are his parents, his mother-in-law Mathel DeLaval and one brother-in-law Ralph Reed. Funeral services for Mr. Armstrong will be held at the West City Church of God 1231 Route 14 W, Benton, Il. on Oct. 22 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Harol Whitlock officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until time of the service with burial to follow at the Masonic and Oddfellow cemetery where Military rites will be performed. Morton and Johnson funeral home of Benton, Ill. are in charge of arrangements.
