William "Bill" John Puetz, 85, of Monticello, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025 at I U Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.
He was born on August 16, 1939 in Streator, IL to the late Wilfred J. and Marie (Datzman) Puetz. On July 10, 1981 he married Vivian (Velligan) Phelps at the Monticello Christian Church. She survives.
Bill attended grade school at St. Joseph in Kentland and was a 1957 graduate of A J Kent High School in Kentland. He went on to work for NIPSCO for 37 years as an electric lineman and retiring as an electric line and meter supervisor.
He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, watching old movies and wintering in Florida.
In addition to his wife, Vivian, he is survived by step daughter, Kim (Phelps) Rusk; son-in-law, Dan Oldenkamp; brothers, James (Carla) Puetz; sisters, Sand (Donnie "Smitty") Smith, Jill Brown; sisters-in-law, Sue and Penny Puetz; brother-in-law, Steve (Bethany) Velligan; grandchildren, Shelby (Taylor) Light, Connor Oldenkamp, Camilla (Mike) Collier; great grandchildren, Charleigh Light, Theo, Finn and Stella Collier.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Puetz; son, William Puetz, Jr.; step daughter, Julie Oldenkamp; brothers, Robert and Pete Puetz; brother-in-law, Michael "Carey" Velligan.
