William Carlson Obituary

William 'Bill' Ruskin Carlson, aged 87, passed away on August 27, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born on June 6, 1938, Bill led a life marked by dedication to his family, service, and community.

Bill served with distinction in the Army Special Forces, earning the esteemed Green Beret, a testament to his bravery and skill. Following his military service, he continued his commitment to public safety as a police officer in Colton, California. Bill's career also spanned roles as a private investigator, a salesman, and as an entrepreneur, showcasing his diverse talents and relentless work ethic.

A devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bill's faith played a significant role in his life, eventually guiding him to his wife. He was deeply involved in his church community, where he formed many lasting relationships. He served a mission with his wife in the Greece Athens Mission, serving as a branch president on the island of Cyprus.

Beyond his professional and spiritual life, Bill cherished spending time with his family, who were the cornerstone of his life. Bill loved his Krissy. His final knowing act was kissing her goodbye one last time. He taught his children to work hard and that good enough wasn’t good enough. He taught them how to serve and care for others by example. He was an avid supporter of BYU sports, enjoyed boating, and loved traveling, always seeking new adventures with his loved ones.

Bill is survived by his wife, Kristina Lee (Baumgarten) Carlson; brother, Thomas Carroll; sons Kevin Bryan Carlson (Teresa Carlson), Eric Randall Carlson, and John Dale Burgess (Linda Burgess); daughters Jennifer Lynn Wolken (Brian Wolken), Tamra Monique Parko (Dan Parko), and Megan Michelle Ensign (Mark Ensign). He loved his 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Mae Zents, father, Ruskin Avery Carlson, and sister. Sonja Johnson.

The graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, Utah, on September 5, 2025, at 10:00 AM. A Celebration of Life will follow that evening from 6:00-7:30 PM at 140 N. 400 W., Orem, Utah 84057. Bill's life was one of profound impact and loving service, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
