William Lee Chambers was born May 1, 1961 to Lacy and Mary G. Chambers of Buckingham County. He was called to his eternal home in Heaven on Monday, July 7, 2025 at the age of 64.
William was educated in the Buckingham County Public School system. At an early age, he was baptized and joined the Slate River Baptist Church. He loved meeting and greeting people. He was well loved by everyone that met him and would always lend a helping hand if necessary.
William began his working career at age 17 with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), as an hourly worker with the bridge crew. After three years, he became full-time as a maintenance operator, where he remained very dedicated and well loved until retirement.
William was preceded in death by: his parents; two brothers, John and Timothy Chambers; two sisters, Tammy Chambers and Pamela Braxton.
William leaves to cherish his memory: the love of his life for 21 years, his lovely wife, Mamie Austin Chambers. She was his heart for a lifetime; one step son, Jamie Austin; two sisters, Linda C. Brown (Governor) and Velma J. Chambers; two brothers, Lacy R. Chambers and Buddy M. Chambers; two sisters in law, Tina M. Chambers and Elsie Lee (Houston); one brother-in-law, Clarence Austin (Shelia); three aunts, Jannie Jones, Elizabeth Chambers and Nannie Ayres; one uncle, William E Booker; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
