SALEM - William "Bill" James Dickey, peacefully passed away on July 6, 2025, at his Salem home.
He was born on March 14, 1933, in Salem to the late Clarence and Ruth (Glass) Dickey.
After his service in the U.S. Navy, Bill, alongside his beloved late wife, Francis Dickey, ventured into entrepreneurship. Together, they became the proud proprietors of Dickey's Ideal Dairy and Penn Grill Bar & Grill, establishments that under their stewardship, became cornerstones of the local community until his retirement in 1995.
Bill is survived by his sons, James (Christine) Dickey and John (Cyndi) Dickey; his daughter, Elizabeth Dickey-Thompson; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and laughter to his days.
Although preceded in death by his daughter, Allison Fithian; sister, Barb Adams; granddaughter, Olivia Thompson; and son-in-law, Billy Thompson, Bill's memory will be cherished and kept alive through tales of his love and devotion to his family.
Bill was deeply rooted in his community, serving as a Past Exalted Ruler and long-time member of the Salem Elks, and as a lifetime member of the Independent Hose Club. Bill's passions extended to the serene moments spent fishing, the joyful afternoons on the golf course, and the countless hours relishing the company of his family and friends.
Per Bill's request no services will be held.
