William Franklin Dunn, affectionately known as" Poppy and Uncle Snook" passed away peacefully at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale on June 22, 2025. He was 87 years old. William was born in Hampton on June 18, 1938, and was the youngest of eight children born to Truitt and Adrian Dunn. He is survived by his sister Ida Lou Johnson of Fordyce.
Poppy was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Gloria Dunn. They have four children, William David Dunn and wife Tina of Oklahoma, Becky Alston and husband Jack of Tontitown, John Michael Dunn and wife Susan of Fayetteville, and Paul Matthew Dunn of Oklahoma. There are ten grandchildren, Dr. Ashley Rodger and husband Matthew of Texas, John David Alston and wife Jamey of Texas, Carolyn Macdonald and husband Dalton of Georgia, Kristiana Dunn, Remi Anders and husband Bart, Dylan Dodger Dunn, Keri Jones and husband Chad of Missouri, Tyler McAnally, Jake and Lila Dunn of Fayetteville. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Matt McCollough, Luke Jones, Micah Jones, Zach Jones, Abel Anders, Ella and Zayd Dunn all of Missouri.
Poppy was a wonderful Christian man who loved reading his Bible, attending Bible Studies in Hampton and in Springdale when visiting family. He also attended a Prison Ministry in Camden when he was able. Poppy had so much joy in meeting with his friends several mornings each week at Granny's Grill where they engaged in lively conversation at the "Table of Knowledge."
In his younger years, Poppy enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and coaching softball. He was a retired VP from Southwestern Bell where he worked for over 40 years.
Our Poppy will be greatly missed, but we are comforted by the knowledge that he is at peace, no longer suffering and is meeting our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Visitation will be held on Sunday June 29th from 4pm – 6pm at Benton Funeral Home, 126 Archer St, in Hampton.
Services will be held at 10am on Monday, June 30th at the First Assembly of God, 248 6th St in Hampton, with Pastor Ricky Smith officiating. The Pallbearers are Mike Wynn, Barry Dunn, Randy Duncan, Tyler McAnally, Jake Dunn and Dylan Dodger Dunn. Honorary Pallbearers are Joe Allen, Bob Dunn, Paul Dunn, John David Alston and Matt McCollough
