William Thurman Evans, Jr., (Bill) age 79 of Biloxi, MS, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025, at River Chase Village in Gautier, MS.
Bill was born on January 6, 1946, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to William Thurman Evans, Sr. and Roma Mae Townsend. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1963-1967. He was born again on November 26, 1972 and was called by God to preach in April 1973. He was then licensed in June 1973 and ordained in January 1975.
Bill was a graduate of Clarke College with an Associates of Arts degree, William Carey with a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies, Luther Rice Seminary and Southern Baptist Center for Biblical Studies with a Master of Ministry. Through his 30 years of ministry, Bill pastored churches in Mississippi and Louisiana.
A big New Orleans Saints fan, Bill enjoyed watching games with his son and sister.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his children, Michelle (Dewayne) Humphries, Monica (Damion) Hegwood, Mark Evans, and their mother, Hilda Beach; grandchildren Chandler (Aysea) Humphries, Carington Humphries, Hannah Grace Hegwood, Cole Evans, Gabriella Hegwood, Jacob Evans, and Luke Hegwood; great-grandchild, Kai Evans; and sister, Gail Smith.
Visitation will be on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 10 am until 11 am, with an 11 am chapel service, at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs, MS. Bro. Barak Stanford and Bro. Joel Sigurnjak will be officiating. Burial will follow at 12:30 pm in Biloxi National Cemetery.
