William "Bill" Hahn, 84, of Maquon, passed away peacefully in his sleep with his wife and daughters at his side and family nearby on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at OSF Richard Owens Hospice Home, Peoria.
Bill was born on March 14, 1941, in Trivoli, Illinois. He was the son of Raymond and Evelyn (Boone) Hahn. He married Carole Barker in 1961 and had six children with that union. He later married Bonnie Brierton in 2016. Surviving Bill are: his loving wife, Bonnie at home; children, Bill ( Da Ann) Hahn, II of Big Sandy, Tx, Herb Hahn of Grand Junction, Co, Angie (Marty) Johnson of Knoxville, Tim (Yvonne) Hahn of Carrollton, Tx, Missy (Mike) Kratz of Galva and Nathan (Sarah) Hahn of Altona; fifteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; siblings, Pat (Ray) West of Knoxville, Sheila (Craig) Hahn-Harris of Casper, Wy, James (June) Hahn of Lucas, Ia, Bruce (Deb) Hahn of St. Augustine and Steve Hahn of Bartonville; a sister-in-law, Bonita Hahn of Cambridge; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandchild and brother, Larry Hahn.
Bill attended schools in London Mills and Fairview. He was a farmer all his life and in adulthood would haul grain as well. He retired on January 29, 2009. Bill was a member of the First Church of God. He loved woodworking and building, especially birdhouses. He was a tinker and THE family mechanic. He collected roosters, loved watching westerns and in his later years he was enamored and amazed by trains that he and Bonnie could see from their home. He loved spending time with his family and will be fondly remembered for all the campouts at the pond. Those times being the highlight of most all their childhoods. He put a lot of work into making it a haven for both sides of the family, including such things as: docks to jump off or fish from, a sandy beach, a softball field and many tasty meals that he would cook in huge skillets over the campfire on a metal grate that he had welded up. Bill also loved going for drives and visiting family and friends in the area. He will be dearly missed by so many.
Graveside services will be 12:00 PM, Saturday, July 19th, 2025, at Yates City Cemetery, Yates City. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory are assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made for the family. On-line condolences and expressions of sympathy may be left to the family at www.hurd-hendricksfuneralhome.com
