William D. "Bill" Schmitt, 65, of Sycamore, passed away May 28, 2025, at NW Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb.
He was born April 20, 1960, in St. Charles, the son of John L and Diana (Ganoe) Schmitt. He was a member of the 1978 Class of Burlington Central High School. Bill loved cars and was an auto mechanic for many years. He could literally fix anything! He had a specific fondness for the Ford Mustang. He even named his dogs Boss and Shelby. He had a love and passion for rescuing injured animals and nurturing them back to life. Bill was active in Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and was proud of his sobriety for the past 19 years. He was a dedicated and loving husband.
He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Paula; his sisters, Debbra (Hal) Langham and Joan (Steve) Lodge.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Roger Schmitt.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June, 10th at Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St. in Hampshire from 11 am until the 2 pm funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be directed to the Wounded Warriors Project at www.support.woundedwarriorproject.org
