William Scurry Obituary

William Preston Scurry, Sr, 78 passed away on February 18, 2024. He was known to most as Bill, but simply Scurry to his buddies. He was born in Camden SC and grew up in Bishopville. He graduated from the University of SC and was honorably discharged from the Army National Guard.
Like his father, he was in the construction business all his life. His experience at Blythe Construction led him to start Scurry Construction in 1995. Many highways, subdivisions and shopping center sites in the Charlotte area were completed under his watch.
Bill loved his work, boating, Gamecock & Panther Football, coaching Will's teams and spending time on his beloved farm.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Hayne & Mary Ellen Scurry, his sisters, Susan Chappell and Sally Peterman.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Gail, his son Will and three beautiful grandchildren, Sloan, Carsen and Eli Scurry, his sister, Kathy Scurry and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held at James Funeral Home, Huntersville NC on Wednesday, February 21 at 2 PM.
